Technical Reports
In this page you will find information as to how to create technical reports in
our reseach group. Technical reports are meant to be a partial repository of
research work done in our group. Ideally all research work would become available in the
forms of papers published by our group. TR's are useful in a number of cases -
- Publish a more detailed and complete version of a paper.
- Publish research material which do not ordinarily find a home in a conference/journal.
- Make available research papers immediately to the community, before they get
formally accepted to a conference/journal.
How to create a Technical Report
- First, get the boss's approval, a.k.a Nick.
- You will need to name the technical report, "TRYY-HPNG-MMDDXX"
- YY - replace this by the last 2 digits of the year in which you create the TR.
- HPNG - is an abbreviation for "High Performance Networking Group"
- MM - is the month when you create the tech report.
- DD - is the date on which you create the tech report.
- XX - is a 2 digit random number which you can choose yourself, if you are
sure no one is writing a tech report on the exact same day as you in the group! If
you are unsure, send email to sundaes@cs.stanford.edu to get a random number.
- The next step is to put "STANFORD HPNG TECHNICAL REPORT TRYY-HPNG-MMDDXX"
in the header/footer of your file. Please see other technical reports
for examples of this.
- Send email to your web admin to add a link to your tech report. Attach
a pdf copy of the tech report in your email named as TRYY-HPNG-MMDDXX.pdf.
In this email attach the author information, total pages, etc. so that
your web admin can list this file on the web page. Or better, do it
yourself!
